Open House Draws More Than 4,000
Everyone Wants to See What's Going On at Shell Point

FORT MYERS, FL (January 19, 2001) - Shell Point celebrated the Grand Opening of The Woodlands at Shell Point with an Open House event on Thursday, January 18. The event drew a crowd of more than four thousand people in eight hours.

Entertainment included a barbershop quartet, big band music by The Stan Spiro Orchestra, a Broadway musical revue by Center Stage Productions, two fashion shows featuring clothing from Miromar Outlet Mall, a variety of volunteer pianists, and a caricature artist. Guests also enjoyed an art show, quilt show, orchid exhibit and health fair.

How much food do you need to feed four thousand people? Well, guests went through 2,800 cookies, 3,000 ice cream bars, 50 6-foot sub sandwiches, 2,500 cans of soda and bottled waters, numerous gallons of punch, 2,000 bags of chips, 1,000 bags of peanuts, tons of cheese and crackers, and 1,500 fruit cups with coconut sprinkles.

"The success of this event is due in large part to the involvement of our residents and staff here at Shell Point," said David Moreland, vice president of sales and marketing.

"It was wonderful to have so many people attend the event to learn more about us, but frankly we could not have done it without the assistance of our many resident volunteers who did everything from serving food, passing out the maps, answering questions and providing directions."

Moreland cited the tremendous crowd to the pre-event publicity and the public's interest in the new project, which has been under construction for the past 24 months.

"The Open House is just one of the many ways that we will have to continue to reach out to the public and educate them on the benefits of the Shell Point lifestyle," said Moreland.
